How to find a domain's registration date
- Go to whois.com or lookup.icann.org
- Enter the domain name (e.g. example.com)
- Look for "Creation Date," "Registered On," or "Created:" in the results
- Enter that date in the form above
Note: Domains using WHOIS privacy protection may show a privacy service's registration date instead of the actual domain creation date. Domain transfers can also complicate the creation date. The "Created Date" in public WHOIS records is generally the most reliable indicator of domain age.
Does domain age affect SEO?
No โ not directly. Google has confirmed multiple times that domain age is not a ranking signal. What older domains may have accumulated over time โ established backlinks, indexed content, user signals โ those things do matter. But registering an old dropped domain does not provide an SEO advantage; Google resets the trust signals for domains that lapse.
